The Brampton

Low, long and mid-century: two drawers at one end, two woven cane panels that slide rather than swing at the other, and a run of tapered legs holding the whole thing clear of the floor. The sliding doors are the detail worth knowing about — they cannot swing into a coffee table, and because only one side is ever closed, the compartment your box lives in is open to the room whichever way you leave them.

Screen up to50 inches

Two numbers decide this one. The cabinet has to fit the alcove, and your television's FRAME — not its advertised screen size — has to fit the cabinet. A 50-inch set is roughly 113cm across its frame, which leaves a hand's width either side here. Pieces are built and finished by hand, so allow up to 2cm either way. Arrives fully assembled. Nothing to build — the legs are fitted at the workshop.

Cable management

There is no open bay on this one, and it does not need one: the cane panels slide rather than swing, so one half of the cupboard is open to the room whichever way you leave them. Park a set-top box behind the open half and its remote works and its heat escapes; slide the panel across when you would rather not look at it. The drawers at the other end are the right depth for controllers, remotes and the cables you are not using.
